PURPOSE OF THE CONFERENCE

With the rapid development of China's economy and its rise of international status, an increasing number of foreigners are studying business Chinese. Therefore, business Chinese education, business Chinese teacher training, business cross-cultural communication and business Chinese teaching materials development are particularly important in today's economic globalization era. However, current research and associated teaching materials cannot meet the needs of academic teaching and learning, which indicates the urgency to speed up relevant teaching research and materials construction. Under such circumstances, the Confucius Institute at Portland State University, together with Peking University Press, will host the First Conference on International Business Chinese Teaching, Textbook Research & Development and Business Cross-Cultural Communication, with the aim of building a communication and cooperation platform for participants from universities, community colleges and Confucius institutes all around the world. We hope to further promote the development of international and domestic business Chinese teaching, improve the quality of business Chinese textbooks and the ability in business cross-cultural communication. With that, we sincerely invite and welcome all like-minded people to participate.

 

CONFERENCE THEMES 

The conference is to focus on international business Chinese teaching, textbooks development, cross cultural communication, which mainly includes but not limited to the following areas:

1)The target market of international business Chinese and its establishment, innovation and development;

2) Comparative study between regular overseas Chinese teaching and international business Chinese teaching;

3)The special needs, curriculum design, challenges and strategies of international business Chinese courses;

4)Case studies on business culture and cross cultural communication in international business Chinese teaching;

5)Textbook demand, development and analysis of international business Chinese teaching;

6)Teaching modes and methodologies of international business Chinese;

7)Application of modern education technology in international business Chinese teaching;

8)Case studies on the integration of business Chinese teaching and business Chinese proficiency tests;

9)International business Chinese teacher training as well as making and sharing courseware;

10)  The feasibility and successful cases on offering business Chinese in universities, graduate schools, community colleges, Confucius institutes,  and the evening and weekend classes both at home and abroad.
